Music

For a modest-sized church, St. John has always been very energetic about missions and music.

Under the leadership of our Music Director, Stephanie Abudayeh, who is a professional music teacher in Evanston, we have a wide array of opportunities to participate in musical groups and worship God through song.

Don't be bashful!  No experience necessary.  Many of our musicians learned right here at St. John!

A good way to get your feet wet is to join Choir for a Day at the North School Park Tree Lighting festivity the day after Thanksgiving.

In addition to Stephanie, we have a Doctor of Musical Composition on the organ and some of our volunteers are music teachers.  See the staff's bios.

We have the following musical groups:

We also have 4 guitarists and a bass guitarist who play

  • Contemporary Christian Music and Praise Music
  • Folk Music
  • Along with the Choir

We have a wonderful 5-member Flute Choir

And we have a 3-member brass section that plays at least 4 instruments.

Our equipment includes

  • A fabulous 7 yr-old digitally-enhanced pipe organ
  • A Kurzweil synthesizer
  • A grand piano
  • A newly upgraded main sound system
  • A new mobile sound system for use in Fellowship Hall and out in the park
