PADS meals
PADS stands for Public Action to Deliver Shelter. Our church participates by providing home cooked dinners for homeless people in the northwest suburbs on the 2nd Thursday of each month, October through April EXCEPT for November, when we are assigned to the 3rd Thursday.
We need volunteers to bring food to Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 W. Kirchoff, Arlington Hts. at 6 PM. Please check out the sign up sheet in the kiosk in Fellowship Hall. Food should be sliced into serving sizes and heated, ready to eat. Disposable aluminum pans are ideal, but if you bring your own dish, the kitchen crew will transfer your food to one of their bowls. Please consider signing up at least once this year. We get rave reviews about our cooking!! There is also a need for prepared food (salad dressing, juice, ice cream) for those who don’t have time to cook. Also, let me know if you need someone to pick up your food on Thursday and deliver it to the PADS site.
This will be my last year coordinating St. John’s meal contributions to PADS. It is not a hard job, you just have to keep an eye on the sign up sheet to be sure it is complete, and make a reminder call to cooks once a month. Please let me know if you are interested.
