Title: Nursery Attendant

Position Description:

The St. John UCC Nursery Attendant is responsible for the care of infants through three-year olds during Sunday morning Christian education, worship, and occasional meetings. We are seeking a responsible adult, at least nineteen years old, to provide a consistent presence as well as a welcoming, safe, loving environment that reassures parents as they leave their children in the nursery.

Responsibilities:

 
• Open and set up the church nursery at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings
• Pick up nursery before closing

• Close nursery at 11:00 am unless there is a special church meeting (at least twice a year)
• Provide light custodial services (i.e. cleaning up spills, wiping counters, disinfecting toys) as needed
• Check in/out all children, collecting any information needed
• Engage the children in creative play, songs, or stories

• Monitor the condition of nursery equipment and supplies and alert the Christian Education Nursery Contact of any needs
• Other duties as assigned

• Responsible to Christian Education Chairperson

• Nursery Attendant will work with a member volunteer each Sunday

Requirements:

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, especially dealing with parents and children in a professional manner
• Childcare experience necessary. Please provide at least two references.
• Candidate must have reliable transportation
• Understanding of basic first aid, including child/infant CPR training (or must be willing to become certified)
• Good communication skills, including fluent English
• Must be willing to provide all aspects of childcare, including changing diapers and giving bottles
• Dependable
• Flexible and creative in solving problems/conflicts
• Appropriate dress is expected

• Candidate may not be a member of St. John UCC

• Candidate must show proof of a negativeTB test within the last year, or be willing to take a TB test.

• Candidate must be able to lift 20 pounds.

• Individual must read and comply with St. John UCC’s Safe Church Policy, which includes a background check.

• Position is year-round
